I don’t really like female rappers outside of MC Lyte, Lauryn Hill, and Queen Latifah… Shouts also to Apani B and Lady of Rage, but truly – most female rappers either sound way too bubblegum-ish or way too monotone (I’m sure you all can figure out who I’m referring to…). And enter tage left field, outta nowhere, here comes Tiye Phoenix, a former member of the OG Rawkus crew & also member of The Polyrhythm Addicts with her debut album, Half Woman Half Amazin, which drops May 26th.
Production? This lady isn’t playing… Most of the album is produced by a few of hip hop’s pioneers including Dj Jazzy Jeff, Dj Spinna, and Da Beatminerz.
