Russell Simmons was appointed as the UN’s most recent Goodwill Ambassador. Sounds important, but what does a Goodwill Ambassador do, you may ask… essentially, they’re famous people who heard in the sheep to save the world from evils like human trafficking, etc. His role specifically is to represent people who have or are currently slaves against their will of some sort. Simmons is no stranger to activism, as he’s been a member of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network and has been active in human rights movements in Jamaica. Dude’s on CNN more than any other hip hop mogul I know.
Not to quote Biggie but… Whoever thought that hip hop would take it this far?!
