Russell Simmons :: The Russell Simmons Project (aka Russell does reality)
Russell Simmons has always been the epitome of success to me. Hailing from Queens, NY, Russell found his niche within the hip hop music industry and has literally paved the way for artists such as Jay-Z and Diddy to push beyond the boundaries of the music industry to truly develop a certain generation of hip hop branding through fashion, as well as through entrepreneurial investments which reach beyond the traditional record label and musician role expectations. He’s been a true hero of sorts to me, someone who has never lost his sense of where he came from, yet has risen above all expectations that people form this place may have had for him.
You can imagine my utter dismay when I found out he is slated to star in his own reality television series called The Russell Simmons Project. The worst part? The salt in the wound? The straw that broke the camels back?….
…. It’s on Oxygen. Yes, the television network that airs reruns of Roseanne and Xena: Warrior Princess. I’d rather watch ShamWow infomercials then this bullshit. The show will priomarily be related to the women who work in the indutry with and arounnd Simmons.
