If there’s anything similar to a Grinch around Christmas time, I’m that around Valentine’s Day. It’s not that love isn’t a priority or even important, but it’s the concept that spending a shitload of money on a bunch of things that are completely overpriced (flowers? Seriously?) seems ridiculous. I’ve always said, “just buy me a pair of sneakers.”
Nike has come correct for me for years, and usually I’m a bit wary of red shoes in general, but always end up with a pair in my collection per year. My red Valentine’s Day 09 AF1s recently won an impromptu sneaker battle on the train…. This year, 2010, these are MY Valentine’s Day sneakers. While the pink is a bit overwhelming and the red a bit underwheming, I like the consistency of both. If I see another mixed hot pink colorway, I may just throw up.
