If there’s one thing I love more than my future husband, John Legend, it’s The Roots.  Since working together, the band and song master have created a full length album, Wake Up,  which is scheduled to drop in September.

One of the absolute best tracks on The Roots‘s ninth full length album is The Fire which features my man has yielded a super dope video, which you can check out below.

It’s been a minute since PopLemon featured a throwback video, and this is one of my favorite summer songs…. Mostly because, well, ice cream is good in the summer.

Recently, Pharrell admitted to asking a fourth member to join the group – R&B songstress Rhea, who’s debut album features Pharrell‘s production exclusively.

Check out N.E.R.D.’s performance on Jimmy Kimmel recently and the studio track and official video for Hot N Fun featuring Nelly Furtado below.  This is the first single from their fourth studio album, Nothing, which is scheduled for release in September and suggets a late 60′s to early 70′s vibe.

One of the absolute best things about The Roots being on Jimmy Fallon‘s late night show is the potential for collaboration during live performances.  Big Boi‘s appearance on the show earlier this week is no different.  In fact, the show would probably benefit from dropping Fallon all together…. In fact, one idea – Outkast shout host the entire fucking thing.

Shutterbug is probably one of my favorite tracks on Big Boi‘s first true solo release, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, which is available at your favorite local independent record shop.  Check out the live version with The Roots below.

Red Bull truly does a lot of cool shit to push innovation and showcase local talent in some of the most creative ways possible.  The battle makes its way into Denver this evening and carries on through various cities across the States over the next few weeks.  Just Blaze and Battlecat?  Makes for a damn fine evening.

THURSDAY, 6/24 -> The country’s premier producer battle hits Denver again and a dozen of region’s top producers are primed to battle head to head to see who has the biggest tune aka the best beats.  In case you missed last year’s Big Tune at Beta, MPC master Boonie Mayfield aka Boon Doc took the title, beating out some of Colorado’s top talent, including runner up DJ Psycho, up and coming prodigy Xperiment, world renowned turntablist turned beatmaker DJ Vajra, Yonnas from Denver favorites the Pirate Signal and seven others to go to the national finals. Since then, virtually every producer I know has been getting their best beats together to vie for this year’s Denver Big Tune title, a chance to compete in the national finals in Chicago and a shot at the grand prize, a chance to record with the artist of their choice at Red Bull Studios in Santa Monica (previous winners have recorded with Young Buck, Nas & Ghostface).

Quite frankly, Donnis is a fucking beast.  He seems to have a unique way of mastering the mic and his ability to pick the right beats to tell his story is impeccable.  The Invitation was released earlier this week as a precursor to Fashionably Late, which is scheduled for release on June 26.  This mixtape features guest spots by Yelawolf, Mickey Factz, CurT@!n$, OJ Da Juiceman, GLC & Pill.  I can’t wait until this dude drops his debut album…. And the contdown begins.

I’m such a sucker for Diplo, and La Roux is just straight up incredible.  I rocked this shit on repeat for an entire evening, working and taking a few breaks to bust out some pretty fresh dance moves in my home office.  Here’s the offical word from the folks at Mad Decent:
